Brian Sweeney was born in Gympie, Queensland in 1925. He served in the RAAF from 1944 to 1945. He was a proprietor of his family's soft drink company and was the Federal President of the Australian Soft Drink Manufacturers Association from 1954 to 1956. Sweeney was chairman of the Twelfth Night Theatre from 1971 to 1974.
